2005/08/15:
From the 29th July until 11th August 2005 the Michaelstein Chamber Choir was on a concert tour in Japan. Within the context of the “German Year” in Japan and within the German participation on the EXPO 2005 in Aichi the choir held alone ten concerts with German choir music open air and in the German-French pavilion. The highbrow and entertaining program arose throughout an enthusiastic audience (partly joining the choir by clapping or singing). The concerts had also a very positive echo in the local press/media.
Also at the 21st International Chamber Chorus Contest in Takarazura the ensemble presented itself successfully: in the category “mixed chamber choirs” with 15 competing choirs the Michaelstein Chamber Choir won a bronze medal with a German/Polish/Japanese program.
Directly after the Japan Tour on 13th of August the choir opened the "Uckermärkische Musikwochen 2005" in Templin with a festive concert. Together with the Collegium Marianum Praha and the soloists Ulrike Fulde (soprano), Steve Wächter (altus), André Khamasmie (tenor) and Gun-Wook Lee (bass) the Michaelstein Chamber Choir presented with Sebastian Göring as its music director and conductor a program exclusively with work of Johann Heinrich Rolle (1716-1785). Besides a selection of motets, which have already been produced within the framework of the complete recording of all motets by Rolle starting in 2004, the cantatas "Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied" (Sing to the Lord a new song), "Groß ist Gottes Güte" (Great is the Lords kindness) and "Auf preiset Gott mit vollen Chören" (Praise the Lord with full choirs) were performed for the first time. The broadcasting date of this concert will be 5th September 2005 on DeutschlandRadio Kultur [www.dradio.de] at 09.03 p.m. Reviews about this concert you will find under Presse. [transl.
